Barbara Schulman, whose work is included in the current exhibit Assemblage: Contemporary Fiber Art, is known for her unconventional approach to textile and fiber arts. She creates both two- and three-dimensional works of art that surprise the viewer with their inclusions of unexpected materials. “My primary obsession is pattern developed by repeat forms, stitches, common objects, hand embroidery, or sewing machine drawing, because empty space makes me a bit nervous.” Join us when Barbra gives us insight into her process and development as a contemporary fiber artist who constructs, deconstructs, and reconstructs.
