A panel discussion with the artists of Past Present: Conversations across Time, moderated by art critic Stephen Maine. The artists are Creighton Michael, Pinkney Herbert, Gregory Coates, Sanford Wurmfeld, Alison Hall, and the collaborative teams of Jonsara Ruth/Lorella Di Cintio and Scott Sherk/Pat Badt. Stephen Maine is a painter, freelance art critic, independent curator, and teacher. His work has been shown most recently at 490 Atlantic and Melville House, both in Brooklyn, as well as at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, in Summit. A member of American Abstract Artists and the International Association of Art Critics, Stephen has written for numerous publications including Art in America, Artnet Magazine, Artillery, ARTnews, the New York Sun, and Artcritical.com, where he is a contributing editor. With artist Gelah Penn he is co-curating Diphthong, a migratory exhibition of process-oriented abstraction, which will debut at the Borough of Manhattan Community College’s Shirley Fiterman Art Center in September 2015. Maine teaches in the graduate Fine Arts program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
