Tonight is the members’ preview launching four special exhibitions:
--PAST PRESENT: CONVERSTIONS ACROSS TIME establishes a visual dialogue between contemporary artists and the Museum’s Samuel H. Kress Collection of Renaissance and Baroque art.
--WESTON’S WOMEN: EDWARD WESTON AND CYCLES OF INFLUENCE features sumptuous and rare vintage prints by the photographer and the women who profoundly influenced his life and work.
--INTERVENTIONS IN PRINTMAKING: THREE GENERATIONS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN showcases works by artists from throughout the United States and the African diaspora who have pioneered new approaches to printmaking while addressing issues pertaining to history, identity, and politics.
--CALIFORNIA THE BEAUTIFUL: WILLIAM DASSONVILLE PHOTOGRAPHS is a selection of idyllic landscapes and escapist city scenes from in and around San Francisco, representing California as the new “Promised Land.”
--Music by the Driftwood Duet
--Hors d’oeuvres by Karen Hunter
